NYSDOT Held Meeting with SHA Residents on I-81 Viaduct Project

Outreach:   Flyers were passed out door to door, advertised on Facebook and SHA website, mailing

 

AGENDA: 

NYSDOT had boards displayed with staff members available to answer questions

Mark Frechette gave a power point presentation.  Kathleen Joy, Esq. assisted.

Take Aways:

  1. DEIS: What was released in April of 2019 is now being referred to as the PRELIMINARY DEIS because there was not approval from the Federal Highway
  2. Neighborhood Meetings: NYSDOT is listening to comments and making changes
    1. e. economic study for Salina
    2. e. MLK: considering a round about
  3. Community Grid
    1. Wilson Park: 3 basketball Courts, Splashpad
    2. Pedestrian walkways, bicycle paths
    3. Qounset Hut: NYSDOT will be taking SHA Maintenance Garage, 500 Renwick
    4. Speeds will be 30 MPH from Colvin to 690
    5. Traffic will be dispersed and not all on Almond
  4. CONSTRUCTION
    1. NO RELOCATION: There will be no relocation of residents for Pioneer Homes or Toomey Abbot
    2. NYSDOT: will be onsite
    3. EFFORTS TO AVOID NOISE AND AIR QUALITY IMPACTS:
      1. use of saw cutters, will remove bridge from above to avoid impact on PH residents
