If you do not have a primary care doctor or are uninsured, call Upstate Medical University at 315-464-3979 and someone will tell you if you should be tested. The number will be available from 7 a.m. until 11 p.m.

SHA SERVICE THROUGH THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC

 

Dear Residents,

 

By now most of you are aware that the City of Syracuse and Onondaga County have declared a State of Emergency due to the spread of COVID-19, commonly called the Coronavirus. As a result of this situation, Syracuse Housing Authority is closing offices to walk ins and strictly limiting appointments to emergency only.

 

We regret the delays this shift in service may cause, but feel that the health and safety of our residents, employees and the community require this step. We ask for your patience and cooperation as we implement the following changes:

 

  1. Property Management Offices: will remain open but available by telephone only. Many leasing functions can be completed through a combination of telephone, mail or email. Nevertheless, we will be relaxing deadlines for annual and interim certifications, inspections and other leasing related functions.
  2. Maintenance: SHA staff will only enter housing units for emergency repair work. All nonemergency maintenance issues will have to wait until the threat of virus has passed.
  3. Daily Status Checks will continue in high-rise buildings.
  4. Security Patrol Services will continue as normal, but as a reminder, SHA does not provide an emergency security response. Please call 911 for emergencies.
  5. Resident Activities, computer labs and bus trips have all been suspended until further notice. As much as possible, you will need to rely on your personal resources to meet you daily needs.

"Social distancing" is a term being used by public health officials to encourage the public to limit their exposure to the COVID-19 virus. This means staying home if you are sick, only going to public spaces for essential services such as getting food, medicines or emergency services. lt also means limiting visitors to avoid sharing germs. I encourage you to take this message seriously for your health and those around you.

En este momento la mayoría de ustedes son conscientes de que la Ciudad de Syracuse y el Condado de Onondaga han declarado estado de emergencia debido a la propagación de COVID-19, comúnmente llamado el Coronavirus. Como resultado de esta situación, la Autoridad de Vivienda de Syracuse (SHA) está cerrando oficinas en las instalaciones, limitando estrictamente las citas a emergencias solamente.
